Thompson to Participate in the Designation Ceremony of the Cary, Mississippi Post Office

 

Congressman Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) will speak at the designation ceremony of the Cary Post Office to the Spencer Byrd Powers, Jr. Post Office.

Why: During the 111th Congress, Congressman Bennie G. Thompson introduced legislation, H.R. 5728, to officially designate the Spencer Byrd Powers, Jr. Post Office in honor of Cary native and war veteran Spencer Byrd Powers, Jr.


Powers was killed while serving his country in the Vietnam War. Powers’ family has called Cary, MS home for nearly 100 years. His family and the Cary community still see him today as a hero.
