CONGRESSMAN THOMPSON NOMINATES BELZONI YOUTH TO AIR FORCE, MILITARY, AND MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMIES

 

BOLTON, MISSISSIPPI – Ms. Sylvia Jones has been nominated by United States Congressman Bennie G. Thompson to the United States Merchant Marine, Military (West Point), and Air Force Academies.

Ms. Jones is scheduled to graduate in May 2012 from Humphreys County High School where she is a member of the Cowgirls’ Basketball, Softball and Track Teams.  She is Assistant Treasurer of Student Council, and is a member of the Senior Beta Club. Her community activities include being a member of Sisters of Sophistication, Students Making a Change, Youth With a Vision, Junior Mayoral Council, and Reel to Reel Tutoring.  She is also active in her church’s ministries, and other social/civic activities. Sylvia is the recipient of numerous civic, and achievement awards.

Sylvia is the daughter of Mr. Marvin and Mrs. Timaka Jones of Belzoni, Mississippi.
