Congressman Thompson Announces Mississippi Second District Water Associations to Receive a Rural Development Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant

BOLTON, MISSISSIPPI – Today, United States Representative Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) announced The United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development has awarded Rural Development Waste and Water Disposal Loans and Grants to water associations in the MS Second Congressional District.

The funds will be used to maintain water mains and distribution improvements to provide a safe and sanitary source of water for the current users.

Canton Municipal Utilities has been approved for a loan in the amount of $159,00 and a grant in the amount of $107,201.

Thomastown Community Water Association, Inc. in Leake County has been approved for a loan in the amount of $398,000 and a grant in the amount of $302,000.

North Hinds Water Association, Inc. of Hinds County has been approved for a loan in the amount of $1,654,000 and a grant in the amount of $1,218,460.
