Thompson Announces Funds to Moorhead Volunteer Fire Department

                                          Assistance to Firefighters Grant Awarded to Moorhead Volunteer Fire Department

BOLTON
, MISSISSIPPIToday, United States Representative Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) announced the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration has awarded $89,785 in Firefighters Grant (AFG) to the Moorhead Volunteer Fire Department.

The purpose of the AFG is to award grants directly to fire departments and EMS organizations that are unaffiliated with a hospital to enhance their ability to protect the health and safety of the public, as well as that of first responder personnel.  AFG has two funding priorities:

·         Vehicle Acquisition Program Area where eligible activities include but are not limited to, pumpers, aerials, quints, brush trucks, tankers/tenders, rescue vehicles, ambulances, foam units, and fireboats. 

·         Operations and Safety Program Area: Eligible activities are limited to training, equipment, personal protective equipment, wellness and fitness, and health and safety modifications to stations and facilities.
