Assistance to Firefighters Grant Awarded to Volunteer Fire Department in the Second Congressional District
BOLTON, MISSISSIPPI – Today, United States Representative Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) announced the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration has awarded $39,097 in Firefighters Grant (AFG) to the Pocahontas Volunteer Fire Department.
The purpose of the AFG is to award grants directly to fire departments and EMS organizations that are unaffiliated with a hospital to enhance their ability to protect the health and safety of the public, as well as that of first responder personnel. AFG funding priority:
Vehicle Acquisition Program Area where eligible activities include but are not limited to, pumpers, aerials, quints, brush trucks, tankers/tenders, rescue vehicles, ambulances, foam units, and fireboats.
