Art Everywhere: A Very Very Big Art Show

The National Gallery of Art is collaborating on Art Everywhere US with four other major museums and the Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA) to present a nationwide celebration of America’s artistic legacy. Cast your vote by May 7th at: www.ArtEverywhereUS.org. The final list of some 50 Art Everywhere US works will be announced to the public on June 20. Art will be displayed starting on August 4,2014, and be on display for four weeks.

Lute case prompts Louise Slaughter to take action

Specifically citing the case of an Irondequoit man whose valuable lute was smashed during a Delta Airlines flight, U.S. Rep. Louise Slaughter and two dozen other lawmakers have sent a letter to the Department of Transportation demanding action on a 2012 law that might help prevent such accidents. The 2012 FAA Modernization and Reform Act includes a provision requiring the FAA to permit passengers to stow instruments in closets or overhead compartments in the plane's cabin rather than the baggage compartment, where they are frequently subject to rough handling.
