Health Care

Rather than dictating medical decisions from Washington, we should be concentrating our efforts on making premiums more affordable for all Americans and giving them the freedom to choose the plan that best fits their needs. The recently-enacted health care law is an example of how not to solve our health care problems. Federal government mandates on employers and individuals are not the answer. I am committed to working with Members on both sides of the aisle to repeal the President's health care law and take the steps needed to reform our health care system the right way. We must work together to make health care more affordable and more accessible for all Americans.

Actions

  • I am a member of the Rural Health Care Coalition, the Nursing Caucus, and the Community Pharmacy Coalition.

  • I am a cosponsor of, and voted in support of, H.R. 45, which repeals President Obama’s health care law in its entirety.

  • I am a cosponsor of H.R. 2300, the Empowering Patients First Act, which repeals the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and replaces it with patient-centered, positive solutions which ensure that individuals maintain control of their health care decisions.

  • I am a cosponsor of H.R. 582, the Healthcare Tax Relief and Mandate Repeal Act, which repeals the Obamacare mandate that individuals maintain minimum essential health insurance coverage or pay a fine.  Additionally, H.R. 582 repeals the Obamacare mandate that certain employers provide health insurance coverage for their employees or pay a fine.

  • I am a cosponsor of H.R. 647, the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act, which would amend the current tax code to allow the families of disabled individuals to set up tax-advantaged savings accounts.  Funds from these accounts would be used to cover the healthcare and every day activity costs of caring for these disabled individuals.
