Pompeo Responds To House Approval of Keystone XL Pipeline Construction

Congressman Mike Pompeo, R-Kansas, a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, responded to the House of Representative’s passage of H.R. 5682, legislation to approve the Keystone XL Pipeline today:

“While the motivation of the Senate majority to bring up this bill is more political than policy, today’s action on the floor will ultimately force the President and every member of the Senate to make a choice:  will you stand with the American people or the radical green energy lobby.  The Keystone XL Pipeline is a commonsense, pro-growth, job-creating project that should have been approved, without controversy, by the US Government years ago.  It is beyond time to put this issue to rest.”

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has committed to having an up-or-down vote on the legislation.

Prior to coming to Congress, Congressman Pompeo ran an oilfield supply and distribution company and has been a stalwart critic of the Obama administration’s political attempts to block the construction of this project which would create thousands of good paying American jobs and improve our nation’s energy security.
