Art Competition
Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our congressional district.
The Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students in the 4th District. Find out if you live in the 4th District. The over-all winner of our district's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol and will be Congressman Gutierrez' guest in D.C. to see their artwork on display and tour the Capitol.
Art works entered in the competition may be up to 28 inches by 28 inches (including the frame) and may be up to 4 inches in depth. The art work may be
- Paintings - including oil, acrylics, and watercolor
- Drawings - including pastels, colored pencil, pencil, charcoal, ink, and markers
- Collage
- Prints - including lithographs, silkscreen, and block prints
- Mixed Media
- Computer Generated Art
- Photography
All entries must be an original in concept, design and execution.
The deadline for submissions is 5:00 PM on April 30, 2014. Art pieces must be submitted to the Congressman’s District Office located at 3240 W. Fullerton Ave, Chicago, IL 60647. Submissions must also include the student information/release form. A small ceremony will be held on May 2 to announce the winning entry.

How to Enter
- Verify that you live in the Fourth District.
- Review the Art Competition Guidelines for Students and Teachers.
- Complete the Student Information/Release Form.
- Follow the Art Submission Checklist.
- Submit your artwork to Congressman Gutierrez' office.
