Washington delegation members ask Federal Housing Finance Agency to protect affordable housing programs in Federal Home Loan Bank merger agreement

Letter led by Rep. Denny Heck suggests FHFA carefully consider affordable housing program funding before approving consolidation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following news of the merger agreement between the Seattle Federal Home Loan Bank and the Des Moines Federal Home Loan Bank, Members of Congress from Washington called on FHFA Director Mel Watt to ensure the final agreement includes an equitable distribution of affordable housing funding in the region, preserves local access to services, and provides continued representation in leadership from the Pacific Northwest.

The letter was led by Representative Denny Heck (WA-10). Other signers include Representatives Jim McDermott (WA-7), Adam Smith (WA-9), Suzan DelBene (WA-1), and Derek Kilmer (WA-6).
