Rep. Tulsi Gabbard Launches Hawai‘i Youth Leadership Council
Honolulu — Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) today announced the launch of the Hawai‘i Youth Leadership Council (YLC). She created the council to engage young leaders from across the state to actively participate in conversations and initiatives regarding our state and nation’s future. The young leaders of the new council currently serve on youth leadership and civic engagement organizations and will meet with Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard on Friday, Sept. 5 for the first time.
“An informed and engaged populace can have a great positive impact on our government and our community,” said Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard. “I look forward to hearing from and working with these young leaders. I’m encouraged by their early commitment to service and work to improve our communities and country.”
The primary objectives of the Hawaiʻi Youth Leadership Council are to provide a venue to bring attention to the ideas and concerns of Hawaiʻi’s young leaders; to establish communication between today's leaders and the next generation; and to encourage involvement in forming solutions to challenges as we move forward. The YLC will continue throughout the 2014-2015 academic year and end with a comprehensive presentation and conversation with Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard in May 2015.
This meeting is open to press. Please RSVP to Erika Tsuji at (808) 286-0803.
