WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Joe Garcia welcomed Reverend Alphonso Jackson, Sr., to Washington to commence the daily congressional session with a prayer. Reverend Jackson leads the Second Baptist Church of Richmond Heights in the Congressman’s District.

I am honored to have Reverend Jackson lead us in prayer here in Washington” said Garcia. “His commitment to the people and progress of our community in South Florida is felt deep amongst my constituents. His presence here today brings a little piece of our vibrant community to Washington. We can all look to his words today for guidance as we work to resolve our country’s most pressing issues.”

Reverend Jackson opened the daily congressional session with a prayer. He prayed that members of Congress be blessed with wisdom and understanding as they seek answers and solutions to the affairs of our great nation.

This is my first visit to the nation’s capital and it goes down as one of the highlights of my ministry” said Reverend Jackson. “Congressman Garcia went far and beyond the call of duty and what he did for me I’ll never forget.”

For over thirty years, Reverend Jackson has dedicated himself to serving God, his family, and the Richmond Heights community, which was created for African American veterans returning from World War II.

Founded 50 years ago by Reverend Ferguson, the Second Baptist Church of Richmond Heights has grown to more than 3,000 members and continues to flourish under the leadership of Reverend Jackson. Rev. Jackson also helps strengthen his community outside his church by serving in a number of organizations, including the Children’s Learning Center, the NAACP, and the Richmond Heights Community Alliance.
