Washington – The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced Monday it will expand access to the Fry Scholarship to surviving spouses of service members who died in active duty. It will begin accepting applications by mail on Monday, November 3, 2014.
Department of Labor will provide grants to fight long-term unemployment
WASHINGTON – The Department of Labor (DOL) awarded $169,771,960 in federal grants to several organizations around the country through the Ready to Work Partnership initiative. These organizations focus on helping long-term unemployed people adapt to the labor market and find a job that fits with their profile. San Antonio-based Project QUEST will receive $9,294,620.

Crockett, Presidio, Sutton Counties Receive Transportation Grant from Department of Veterans Affairs
WASHINGTON – The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) awarded the Texas Veterans Commission funds, totaling over $1 million. Some of those funds will go towards providing access to health care for veterans living in remote areas including: Crockett, Presidio, and Sutton counties.
Washington – Liberty Elementary School in Eagle Pass, was awarded the National Blue Ribbon as an Exemplary High Performing School for 2014.
