Debt and Deficit

Reducing our debt is critical to our country’s economy and affects all people living here. We must ensure that our fiscal house is in order for future generations. For this to occur, we must first focus on the deficit that the United States has accumulated over the years. Because of this, I support responsible, thoughtful and prudent spending cuts. As a fiscal conservative, I know it must be done, but I also know it must be done in the right way. The national deficit is a problem that requires Congress to make smart and responsible budgetary decisions. I am proud to announce that while not an easy task, the deficit has been cut by more than half since 2009. The federal deficit has fallen faster over the past three years than it has during any time since WWII. As the U.S. Representative for 23rd District of Texas, I consider it my duty to reduce our debt and decrease deficit spending.
