Glenn County

Issues: Agriculture

Congressman Garamendi is proud to represent Glenn County. The 3rd Congressional District includes the communities of Alder Springs, Artois, Elk Creek, Fruto, Hamilton City, Orland and Willows.  Glenn County was established from parts of Colusa County in 1891. The county was named after Hugh Glenn, a prominent California businessman and politician, whose nickname was the “Wheat King of California.” Glenn County is abundant in rich farm land and is bordered with mountains on the west and the Sacramento River on the east. Glenn’s economy is agriculture-based, and its major crops and commodities include almonds, dairy products, livestock, prunes, and rice.
