Washington, DC – Congresswoman Lois Frankel (FL-22) applauded the House for passing bipartisan legislation to terminate Social Security benefits for Nazi criminals who receive them because of a loophole in current law.

“Nazis should never get Social Security benefits – it’s an insult to those who suffered at the hands of these war criminals and to American taxpayers who are unknowingly supporting them,” said Frankel. “I’m proud the House is taking action to stop these payments.”

Due to legal hurdles years ago, suspected Nazi criminals were given the opportunity to leave the United States and continue receiving Social Security benefits. The No Social Security for Nazis Act stops payments to these individuals. The legislation now goes to the Senate where it is expected to pass and be signed into law by the President.
