The primary purpose of the Committee is to assign fellow Democrats to other House Committees and to shape Democratic policies. It is made up of a diverse membership, some selected by region and some appointed by Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Lois Frankel (FL-22) today applauded the bipartisan work of Congress to reauthorize the Child Care and Development Block Grant Act (CCDBG), which will improve child care quality and help parents find and sustain employment. On Monday night, the Senate agreed to the House-passed version of the legislation and it will now be sent to President Obama for his signature.

Currently, federal data about temporary foreign worker visas is collected by three separate federal agencies and generally not made available to the public.

Washington, DC —Congresswoman Lois Frankel voted against the underfunded H.R. 4745, the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2015 (T-HUD) because it includes severe cuts to vital transportation and housing programs.  The transportation programs slashed under H.R. 4745 help fund our highways, bridges, passenger rail systems such as Amtrak, and transit systems like subways, streetcars, and commuter rail systems (Tri-Rail).  The bill passed the full House by a total of 229 to 192.
