Congresswoman Frankel has urged the Administration to not cut Medicare Advantage by 1.9 percent as originally planned.

Boca Raton, FL— A day after budget negotiations began between Democrats and Republicans in the House and Senate, Congresswoman Lois Frankel today joined 177 of her colleagues in a letter to Speaker John Boehner calling on him and House Republican leadership to publicly declare that they will not use the threat of a federal government shutdown or default as a political tactic in budget talks.

“It’s critical the House reaches a responsible deal to re-open the government and ensure America avoids a worldwide economic meltdown,” Frankel said. “We should all be open to reasonable, common-sense solutions and working with anyone who has a good idea.”

Washington, DC — On Day 12 of the government shutdown, Congresswoman Lois Frankel signed onto to an effort to reopen the government. The special congressional procedure, known as a discharge petition, allows a majority of members to bypass Speaker Boehner and force an up or down vote on a bill to reopen the government. This petition only needs a majority of House members to sign on and does not require any action by the House Republican leadership.
