Mr. Speaker, I rise today in support of the U.S. Israel Strategic Partnership Act to designate our Israeli ally as a “major strategic partner” of the United States.

To the casual observer, it seems that Israel is nothing more than a war zone. The only time Israel appears to be discussed in the news is when something bad happens. A Palestinian terrorist attacks worshipers at a synagogue in Jerusalem. Peace negotiations break down. War in Gaza.

Washington, D.C. – The House passed the bipartisan Malala Yousafzai Scholarship Act yesterday to expand scholarship opportunities for students in Pakistan. The legislation included a provision sponsored by Congresswoman Lois Frankel (FL-22) encouraging scholarship recipients to commit to improving their local communities.

“By educating young women, we advance democracy in countries threatened by extremism,” Frankel said.

The primary purpose of the Committee is to assign fellow Democrats to other House Committees and to shape Democratic policies. It is made up of a diverse membership, some selected by region and some appointed by Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Lois Frankel (FL-22) today applauded the bipartisan work of Congress to reauthorize the Child Care and Development Block Grant Act (CCDBG), which will improve child care quality and help parents find and sustain employment. On Monday night, the Senate agreed to the House-passed version of the legislation and it will now be sent to President Obama for his signature.
