Congressional Art Competition

Each spring, a nationwide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Artistic Discovery Contest is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our congressional district.

I am pleased to announce the participation of Florida's 18th Congressional District in the 2014 Congressional Art Competition, which provides Members of Congress with the unique opportunity to showcase the talents of creative high school students in their district.  The Artistic Discovery Contest is open to all high school students in Florida's 18th District. Congratulations to Julia Roberts of Jensen Beach High School, Florida's 18th Congressional District winner for 2014, whose work will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol along with the artwork from other contest winners nationwide. To view the more than 70 talented entries from Florida's 18th district who participated in this year's Congressional Art Competition, please click here.  You can also click  here to take a virtual tour of the exhibit held at Palm Beach State College - Eissey Campus Theatre on April 26th.

The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition.
