If you can't get an answer from a federal agency in a timely fashion, or if you feel you have been treated unfairly, my office may be able to help resolve a problem or get you the information you need. While we cannot guarantee you a favorable outcome, we will do our best to help you receive a fair and timely response to your problem.

  • While I will do my best to assist you with resolving your situation, I do not have the ability to override agency decisions made in accordance with federal law or regulation.
  • I am unable to assist you with a problem involving a state or local government agency, which does not fall under federal jurisdiction. You may want to contact your state or local officials for assistance with these matters.
  • Due to the constitutional separation of powers, judicial matters do not fall under my jurisdiction as a Member of Congress. House ethics rules also prohibit me from acting as an attorney.
  • I am regretfully unable to directly intervene in private disputes between individuals and businesses, financial institutions, or other independent entities.  However, I will be happy to provide you detailed information about programs and resources that may be helpful to you in pursuing such complaints.

How do I open a case?

The Privacy Act of 1974 (5 U.S.C. § 552a) requires that I have your written consent before contacting federal agencies about your individual situation. Please complete the Privacy Act Release form below . Please print it provide it to the address on the form, as well as two complete copies of other relevant documents that may be useful when I inquire on your behalf. We must have your signature to proceed with this type of request.

Please be sure to include all pertinent information and claim numbers in your correspondence—such as you VA claim number for a case with Department of Veterans Affairs; Copies of any related documents or correspondence that you may have from the agency involved;
