Protecting Our Seniors
The fact is, Medicare is growing at an alarming rate of 7.25% a year. We must work to ensure Medicare remains solvent for today’s seniors and future generations of Americans.
I support the following legislation:
- H.R. 2576: to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to modify the calculation of modified adjusted gross income for purposes of determining eligibility for certain healthcare-related programs (pass House)
- H.R. 1173: Fiscal Responsibility and Retirement Security Act of 2011 (pass House)
- H.R. 6685: Spending Reduction Act (pass House)
More on Protecting Our Seniors
As 2011 wraps up, it is important to reflect on what’s transpired this year. I have been focusing my efforts on getting Tennesseans back to work, removing overbearing regulations, lowering taxes, reducing the federal budget and protecting Medicare.
This week, we welcome Tennessee’s children as they start another successful school year. We must provide our children with the best education in order to secure a stronger future. As we enter this new school year, we also approach an important time in Congress where we will begin work to update the outdated No Child Left Behind Act. I have spent much time listening to teachers, administrators and parents to discuss how we can better provide our nation’s educators with the necessary tools to educate our children.
