Art Competition

The Office of Congressman Delaney is proud to announce the 2014 Congressional Art Competition for Maryland’s 6th Congressional District. This is a competition for High School Students.

Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Artistic Discovery Contest (ADC) is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our congressional district.

The ADC is open to all high school students in the 6th District. The over-all winner of our district's competition will have their artwork displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol and may participate in recognition ceremonies hosted in Washington, D.C. The exhibit in D.C. will also include artwork from other contest winners nation-wide.

Artworks entered in the contest may be up to 28 inches by 28 inches (including the frame) and may be up to 4 inches in depth and not more than 15 lbs. The artwork may be:

  • Paintings - including oil, acrylics and watercolor
  • Drawings - including pastels, colored pencil, pencil, charcoal, ink and markers
  • Collage
  • Prints - including lithographs, silkscreen and block prints
  • Mixed Media
  • Computer Generated Art
  • Photography

All entries must be original in concept, design and execution. Winning artwork must be framed at the artist expense.

High school students may enter the ADC by e-mailing a completed 2014 Congressional Art Competition Consent Form, along with the submitted artwork.

Materials may be mailed to:
