Visiting D.C.

Work has started on the multi-year U.S. Capitol Dome Restoration Project. In order to ensure the safety of Members of Congress, staff and the visiting public, the Capitol Rotunda and Statuary Hall will be closed from Saturday, April 12, through Monday, April 28, 2014, for the installation of safety netting.  You will still be able to visit the Crypt, Old Supreme Court Chamber, Capitol Visitor Center exhibits, and House and Senate galleries, and my Capitol Hill office will always be open to my constituents visiting our nation’s capital.

As your Representative in Congress, I am able to reserve tickets for tours to many Washington, D.C. attractions. To request tickets or reservations to the locations listed below, please email me at cummings.tours@mail.house.gov. Please include your name, address, phone number, email address and dates requested.

Please keep in mind that White House tour requests must be made between 6 weeks and 6 months in advance for any day Tuesday through Saturday. All tours are self-guided and take place between 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. You cannot request a specific time slot.

Since I receive a large number of requests, please only select a tour if you are certain that you will be able to attend.

Tickets to all venues are limited and availability varies depending upon the time of the year. Therefore, the longer I have to process your request the better chance I have of being able to fulfill it.

Spring White House Garden Tours

As part of the President and First Lady’s ongoing effort to open the People’s House to as many people as possible, the White House will open its gardens and grounds to visitors on Saturday, April 26 from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM EDT, and Sunday, April 27 from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM EDT.  During this event, visitors can see the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden, Rose Garden and South Lawn of the White House.  Additionally, the White House Kitchen Garden – the first vegetable garden at the White House since Eleanor Roosevelt’s Victory Garden – will be accessible to guests. This event is free and open to the public; however, a ticket is required for all attendees (including small children).  The National Park Service will distribute free, timed tickets at the Ellipse Visitor Pavilion located at 15th and E Streets NW on Saturday and Sunday beginning at 9:00 AM.  Tickets will be distributed -- one ticket per person -- on a first-come, first-served basis.
