Information for Americans Heading Abroad to Israel

Due to conflict in Israel and the Gaza Strip, Americans planning travel to the region should take extra precautions, and be aware of the resources available before and after your trip abroad:

  • The American Embassy in Tel Aviv has information about border crossings, including restricted hours for travel between Egypt and the Gaza strip. For detailed information, visit their website.
  • The American Embassy and Consulate are open, but operating with reduced staff. Normal American Citizen Services have been suspended until further notice. Emergency cases (including deaths abroad, victims of crimes abroad, and incarceration abroad) will be considered on a case by case basis.
  • The Embassy encourages those traveling to the region to register their presence witht he Embassy's STEP (Smart Traveler Enrollment Program) program. Click here to register.
