October 4, 2013
Next week I will be hosting my annual Senior Health Fair at Normandale Community College to provide and connect seniors with helpful services and resources. Over 700 people turned out last year and it was a great success. New to this year’s event, Bloomington Public Health nurses will operate a flu shot clinic offering flu shots for seniors. Bring your insurance card, but free shots will be available for individuals without insurance, as well.
Caseworkers who can help with Social Security, Medicare, and Veterans issues will be available for attendees. And representatives from organizations providing senior services including grocery delivery, medical supplies, senior housing, home care, and other community organizations will have booths at the fair.
Experts from the Better Business Bureau will lead a seminar at my Senior Heath Fair called “Protect Your Money and Identity from Fraud” with tips on how to recognize and avoid common fraud and identity theft scams. A second seminar will offer tips on what seniors need to know about Medicare rules and regulations.
Lastly, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office will again collect unwanted medicines for proper disposal the Senior Health Fair.
You can find the details for next week's event below or by visiting my Senior Health Fair webpage.
