The Memorial Art Gallery

Founded in 1913, the Memorial Art Gallery is a premiere destination for any visitor with an interest in the arts. With a collection of more than 12,000 pieces, visitors are offered a rare journey through 5,000 years of art history- from the relics of history to groundbreaking artists of today. In addition to its collection, the Gallery offers a year-round schedule of temporary exhibitions, lectures, concerts, tours and family activities.

The George Eastman House

The George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film is the world’s oldest photography museum, including stills, motion pictures, photographic and cinematographic equipment, and a comprehensive research library. The Eastman House incorporates Eastman Kodak Company founder George Eastman’s mansion, beautifully restored gardens, and numerous other additions such as a lecture hall, multimedia theater, and a 535-seat motion picture venue, which specializes in restored film classics.

High Falls

The Center at High Falls acts as Rochester’s official Visitor Center, and has earned the distinction of being named a New York State Heritage Area. Guided and self-guided tours of the 96-foot waterfall are available, and the Center also houses a museum with interactive exhibits, art gallery, and gift shop to welcome visitors and residents alike to the City of Rochester.

ArtWalk

Located in Rochester’s Neighborhood of the Arts, ArtWalk is an urban art trail and interactive outdoor museum, immersing people in a world of public art like they’ve never seen before! Make your way along the path and experience a dazzling display of visual scenery at every step.

Rochester Americans

The Rochester Americans are the city’s professional ice hockey team, competing in the American Hockey League (AHL) and affiliated with the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres. Founded in 1956, the Amerks play their home games from October – April at the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial in Rochester.

Rochester Red Wings

The Rochester Red Wings are the city’s Triple-A baseball team, the top minor league affiliate of the MLB’s Minnesota Twins. Founded in 1899, the Red Wings are in the International League and play their home games from April – September at Frontier Field in Rochester.

National Museum of PLAY

The National Museum of PLAY is a collections-based museum devoted solely to play. The only one in the world of its kind, it features tens of thousands of artifacts and objects related to play, interactive and hands-on exhibits, educational program, the National Toy Hall of Fame, a passenger train and carousel, and even an indoor butterfly garden.

Ontario Beach Park

Ontario Beach Park, located on the shore of Lake Ontario, spans 39 acres and includes seven shelters that can be available to rent for social gatherings, parties, and other events. It is also home to the Historic Dentzel Carousel installed in 1905. The park also accommodates baseball/softball, beach volleyball, boating, fishing, pickleball, soccer, and swimming. Open daily 7am to 11pm.

Colonial Belle Erie Canal Cruises

The Colonial Belle provides information boat cruises of the Erie Canal, launching from Fairport just outside Rochester. Embark on a journey with Captain Lee providing historical narration of the canal during the three-hour cruise, packed with fun, food, and entertainment.

Casa Larga Winery – Fairport

Located in Fairport, NY, Casa Larga Winery provides wine tasting, a wine shop, and both public and private tours of their vineyards. Tours are available every day, with the exception of January and February, for the public.

Nick Tahou Hots – “Home of the Garbage Plate”

A landmark restaurant founded in 1918 in Rochester, Nick Tahou Hots features their signature dish – the Garbage Plate. The establishment has been featured on Food Network’s Unwrapped, as well as the Travel Channel’s Man v. Food Nation.

Genesee Cream Ale

A popular cream ale produced by the Genesee Brewing Company in Rochester. This ale has won numerous awards throughout the years at the Great American Beer Festival. The Genesee Brewing Company was founded in 1878 in Rochester, NY.
