Help With Federal Agencies

Do you need help contacting or working with a federal agency such as the Department of Education, Department of Labor or Department of Veterans Affairs? If so, I am happy to help.  To get started, please contact my Rochester office. My staff will be happy to discuss your circumstance in a confidential manner and help you to take the next step forward.

If my office can be of assistance, you will need to download and fill out a Privacy Release Form and return it to my Rochester office via fax or mail.  My staff will contact you again when the form is received and gather any additional information before contacting the relevant federal agencies.

It is important to remember that my office does not have any authority to direct a certain outcome or expedite a process. I can only help communicate the circumstances and request that the agency take appropriate actions to assist you. However, I am pleased to help you with any number of issues relating to federal agencies, including:

  • Consumer Protection
  • Federal Student Financial Aid
  • Medicare Benefits
  • Social Security Benefits
  • Veterans Affairs Benefits

Below, please find a few quick questions to help you decide if I can assist you in your case:

Does your case involve a federal agency? As a Member of Congress, I am able to make inquiries of federal agencies only. If your case involves a state or local agency, please contact your state or local government representative for assistance. If you live in New York State, click here to find your state representative.

Does the case you are concerned about involve you? While you are welcome to contact my office to seek assistance for someone else, due to privacy laws, I must have the written consent of a constituent in order to make an official inquiry on his or her behalf.

Is this a legal dispute? As a Member of Congress, I am unable to become involved in court cases or legal issues due to the Separation of Powers as outlined in the Constitution.

Does your situation involve a law that you would like to see changed? If you are advocating for a change in the law, you can submit your comments on my website by clicking here, or contact either of my Congressional offices to speak with a member of my staff. Please be assured that every comment or question is shared with me and I will work closely with my office to provide you with a response as quickly as possible.

Is an agency already working on your case? It is rare that a case can be "sped up" for any reason other than extreme hardship. If you believe your situation merits faster processing, please contact my Rochester office as soon as possible. The staff will discuss your situation with you and help determine the proper strategy.

If you are still unsure whether our office can assist you with your case, please contact my Rochester office. My staff will discuss your situation with you and work with you to determine the best course of action.
