WASHINGTON, DC - House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement today praising House passage of the FY 2015 National Defense Authorization Act:

“The security threats our nation faces are as grave as they are prolific, and it is imperative that we provide our military men and women the tools they need to keep America safe.  The House has done so today, passing a bipartisan agreement that provides the resources necessary to support military readiness, authorizes funding for counter-terrorism operations against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), prevents the administration from transferring prisoners from Guantanamo Bay to the United States, and implements reforms to help ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely.  This bill is both a product of, and a tribute to, the hard work of Buck McKeon, a good man and great patriot who has continued the bipartisan tradition of the House Armed Services Committee.”
