Time to buckle up – House Republicans are back on Cruz Control.
A look at today’s news reveals the House Republican Conference deeply divided once again as the party’s most conservatives Members continue to buck House Republican leaders with threats of another government shutdown.
Just in case you thought House Republicans were ready to stop threatening to shut down the government, think again.
It’s been nearly five months since the Senate passed a multi-year extension of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act by a strong bipartisan vote of 93-4, yet House Republican leaders still haven’t brought legislation to the Floor, despite our urging.

Now – The Hill: House Cancels Border Vote “House GOP leaders canceled a Thursday vote on their $659 million border bill after failing to corral conservative members behind the measure. A significant number of Republicans had balked at sending any money to the White House for the border, and Democrats were generally united in opposing the measure. The decision is another defeat for House GOP leaders, who have repeatedly failed to bring their members in line on tough votes.” [7/31/14]

It’s been a rough day for the brand-new House GOP leadership.
As the House Republican leadership prepares to assume their new positions, we wanted to remind them of one of the key components of Republicans’ 2010 “Pledge to America:” the Three-Day Rule.
This can’t be the headline that GOP leadership was hoping for this morning, but as we’ve seen time and time again, this is what happens when House Republicans decide to go even further to the right on a bill to nowhere instead of working with Democrats on a bipartisan basis.
