House Republicans’ Record of Obstruction vs. House Democrats’ Agenda

The contrast between the obstructionist, partisan agenda of House Republicans and House Democrats’ Middle Class Jumpstart agenda is clear. After running on a message of openness, transparency, and commitment to addressing the issues that matter most, like job creation, House Republicans have abandoned their promises and instead overseen the least productive and most-closed Congress in history.

On issue after issue, House Republicans have ignored the will of the American people and blocked progress on critical challenges facing our nation. Instead of working to create jobs, develop economic opportunity, raise the minimum wage, ensure equal pay for equal work, fix our broken immigration system, and protect voting rights, the Republican-led House has instead focused on partisan legislation that doesn’t help the American people and has no chance of becoming law. House Republicans have wasted time and taxpayers’ dollars on partisan lawsuits and political messaging that caters to the far-right wing of their party.

Democrats on the other hand, have an agenda to jump start the middle class and ensure that more of our people can make it in America. Centered around three pillars of ‘Make It In America – Better Jobs at Home,’ ‘When Women Succeed, America Succeeds,’ and ‘Affordable Education to Keep America #1,’ the Middle Class Jumpstart agenda shows House Democrats’ commitment to putting the middle class first. While House Republicans’ inaction and pursuit of misguided priorities sends the message “you’re on your own,” House Democrats are showing the American people that we’re on your side.
