Statement on Proposed Ozone Pollution Standards

Nov 26, 2014 Issues: Environment

Today, members of the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) released the following statement on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposal to strengthen National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for ozone pollution.

The coalition members said, “These long-overdue ozone standards are critical to protecting the public health, particularly for at-risk groups like children, seniors, and anyone with asthma or respiratory diseases.  The EPA’s proposal will also update the Air Quality Index (AQI), a common-sense, color-coded system that allows for families, schools and individuals to understand how air quality conditions may contribute to health concerns.”
