Washington, D.C.- Today, Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (D-TX-15) welcomes Congressman Steve Stivers (R-OH-15) as the new co-chair for the Congressional Financial and Economic Literacy Caucus. Congressman Hinojosa formed the caucus in 2005 with former Congresswoman Judy Biggert of Illinois. The goal of the Financial and Economic Literacy Caucus is to improve the financial literacy and capability of all individuals across the United States.

"I am extremely honored to welcome Congressman Steve Stivers as my new co-chair for the Financial and Economic Literacy Caucus, U.S. Rep. Hinojosa said.  "We share a common passion for improving the financial literacy and capability for all Americans. As our economy recovers, it is essential to empower our citizens when it comes to their financial lives and planning for the future. I look forward to working with Congressman Stivers and his staff to broaden the reach of the caucus and to recruit new members and partners."

Over the last eight years, the Caucus has collaborated with Jump$tart, Junior Achievement and the Council on Economic Education on a Financial Literacy Day Fair every April, in addition to reviewing and endorsing related legislation and hosting briefings on Capitol Hill. Participants include the Consumer Financial Protection, the US Treasury and Federal Reserve and hundreds of community banks through Jump$tart which provide programs in 8 languages to people of all ages.
