McMorris Rodgers: The President Must Be Held Accountable

Communications • December 4, 2014

WASHINGTON, DC – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) issued the following statement on the passage of H.R. 5759, the Preventing Executive Overreach on Immigration Act:

“Today the House acted to hold the President accountable for his unilateral executive overreach on immigration. This bill is a pivotal step toward ensuring that the Administration work with Congress to get things done. President Obama’s executive action is not only an overreach of his power, but it is a direct disregard for the will of the American people, which is for their elected leaders – Democrats and Republicans – to work together on smart, common-sense solutions. I commend Congressman Ted Yoho (R-FL) for his leadership on this bill and his efforts to hold the executive branch accountable. Fixing our broken immigration means we are not circumventing the law, but working together through the democratic process to advance effective, permanent solutions.”
