Congressman Jim Gerlach, PA-6th District

Jim Gerlach is serving his sixth term in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing portions of Berks, Chester, Lebanon and Montgomery counties in southeastern Pennsylvania.

The Sixth District is home to Victory Brewing Company and Sly Fox Beer – just two outstanding examples of small brewers producing world-class products while helping revitalize the communities in which they’re based. Pennsylvania’s brewing tradition runs deep, and the Commonwealth is proud to be the birthplace of Yuengling – America’s Oldest Brewery, which has been family-owned and operated for more than 180 years.  It is also home to a major production facility for Sam Adams beer brewed by the Boston Beer Company.

A member of the House Ways & Means Committee, Jim is a lead sponsor of the Small Brewer Reinvestment and Expanding Workforce (Small BREW) Act.  This bipartisan bill would provide much-needed tax relief for more than 1,700 American small brewers that reinvest every penny they save back into their companies and their communities.

A lifelong Pennsylvania resident, Jim Gerlach grew up in Ellwood City – a town about an hour north of Pittsburgh. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dickinson College and a Juris Doctor from the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He currently lives in Chester Springs, Chester County with his wife, Karen, and they have three children and three step-children.

Before his election to Congress in 2002, Jim served two terms in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives followed by two terms in the Pennsylvania Senate.
