Republican New Media

About the New Media Caucus
Dear Republican Colleague:

To enhance your online communications efforts with your constituents, we would like to invite you to join us as members of the Republican New Media Caucus (RNMC). The RNMC has been and will continue to be a proactive caucus to educate and work with Members as new media technology continues to evolve. As we work to grow our economy and encourage innovation, we must also utilize these tools to connect with our constituents engaging in public policy discussions in different venues every day.

Thanks to the explosive growth of Republican participation in new media House Republicans are dominating the web through the use of Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, and others.  These sites provide an opportunity for Members of Congress interact with constituents like never before. Take You Cut for example, headed by the Majority Leader; it has transformed the way Congress does business by incorporating citizens' online suggestions into legislation.

As Speaker Boehner said, “When the American people get involved, Congress listens. Thanks to the Web and social media, the American people are more involved in their government than ever before.”

We will hold regular briefings for both Members and staff aimed at not only helping you understand why these new technologies are important, but how to use them as well. To learn more about the RNMC or to become a member, please feel free to contact Izzy Santa of Congressman Latta’s staff at 6-4356 (izzy.santa@mail.house.gov) or Loree Thompson of Congressman Culberson’s staff at 5-2571 (Loree.Thompson@mail.house.gov).

Sincerely,
