Udall Statement on Chuck Hagel's Resignation as Defense Secretary
Mark Udall, a member of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee and chairman of the U.S. Senate Strategic Forces Subcommittee, released the following statement after President Obama announced that Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel would be stepping down:
"Chuck Hagel is a tremendous public servant who has worked tirelessly on behalf of the men and women of our armed forces," Udall said. "During his time leading the Department of Defense, Secretary Hagel has faced down a daunting number of challenges at home and around the world. He has made tough decisions and provided sound advice and strategic vision while addressing a wide range of threats. From his service in Vietnam to his work in the U.S. Senate and as our Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel has spent his life defending our nation, and he has my sincere thanks and best wishes."
