Washington, DC – Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen was unanimously reelected Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee by the House Democratic Caucus. Following his election, Congressman Van Hollen issued the following statement:
“It has been a privilege to serve as Ranking Member of the Budget Committee, and I am honored that my colleagues have reelected me to continue to serve in the 114th Congress.

“Our House Democratic Caucus has played a leading role in framing the important issues facing our country. The upcoming debate over the budget is not just about a set of numbers – it represents our national priorities and values. We will continue to fight for strong and sustained economic growth in a way that provides for broadly shared prosperity.
“In the coming months, we must advance a budget plan and legislative agenda to accelerate job creation and grow the middle class. I look forward to continuing that work in the Committee next Congress.”
