Madam Chair, I yield myself such time as I may consume.

Thank you, Chairman Cole, Ranking Member Wasserman Schultz, and Chairman Rogers for your work on this bill. Today we consider the smallest of the appropriations bills, which funds the operations of our nation’s legislative branch.

Thank you, Chairman Cole and Ranking Member Wasserman Schultz, for your hard work on this Subcommittee. I look forward to continuing my work with you and the rest of this Subcommittee.

July 10, 2013 Press Release
While that is not so bad compared to other bills such as Transportation and Housing and Energy and Water, this bill keeps the status quo with which Members have been dissatisfied - long lines for your visitors, furloughs and pay cuts for staff, and the inability to effectively communicate with our constituents.
July 9, 2013 Press Release
This Congress has a 6% approval rating, the lowest in history. While many of my colleagues see cutting our important legislative branch agencies as a way to buoy the public's opinion of Congress, this is the wrong approach.
March 19, 2013 Press Release
It is unconscionable to legislate discrimination, and I cannot condone the use of taxpayer dollars to defend a discriminatory law at ANY time especially when these senseless cuts have placed an even greater burden on the operations and effectiveness of this chamber.
