Brady Statement on Commemorating National Voter Registration Day

Sep 23, 2014 Issues: Elections

September 23, 2014 (Washington, D.C.) Committee on House Administration Ranking Member, Robert A. Brady (D-PA) issued the following statement commemorating National Voter Registration Day.

“National Voter Registration Day is a reminder that we still have so far to go in fostering and ensuring the right to vote in America,” said Brady.  “We should be working to eliminate restrictions to the ballot box and ensuring that all eligible Americans are given the opportunity to vote.   The first step to exercising that civic duty is to register to vote,” Brady continued.  “I am encouraged to see the progress made by states that have modernized their voter registration systems and the overwhelmingly positive reaction to these upgrades should inspire other states to follow suit. Today, I call on all citizens to take a few critical moments to register to vote, or confirm their registration information is current.  I will continue to work at the federal level to protect the right to vote and to ensure no eligible citizen that wants to cast a ballot is turned away from the polls.”
