Statement of Rep. Henry A. Waxman on FCC Chairman Wheeler’s Effort to Modernize the E-Rate Program

Today Ranking Member Waxman released the following statement in response to FCC Chairman Wheeler’s plan to modernize the E-Rate Program:

“The E-Rate program is a critical component of our national competitiveness strategy. I support FCC Chairman Wheeler’s announcement today to modernize the program to meet the 21^st century needs of America’s schools and libraries. Rural and low-income areas must have access to the world class connections they need to take advantage of today’s digital learning tools. I urge the FCC to take this next step to put E-Rate on strong footing for generations to come.”
