Statement of Ranking Member Waxman Regarding EPA’s Proposed Air Quality Standard for Ozone

Nov 26, 2014

Today Ranking Member Henry A. Waxman released the following statement on the proposed ozone pollution standard by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA):

“EPA has proposed to tighten ozone standard based on the latest scientific evidence.  This action will make the air cleaner to breath, saving lives and preventing asthma attacks across the country.  When families sit down to their turkey dinners tomorrow, they should be thankful that EPA is looking out for their interests, not those of the oil companies and other big polluters.  In California alone, more than 400 lives could be saved each year by a standard set within the range EPA has proposed.  I look forward to EPA finalizing this rule and helping all Americans breathe cleaner air.”
