ENGEL STATEMENT ON THE ANNIVERSARY OF ALAN GROSS’S IMPRISONMENT

WASHINGTON, DC—Representative Eliot L. Engel, the leading Democrat on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, today made the following statement on the fifth anniversary of the imprisonment of Alan Gross in Cuba:

“When I first met with Alan Gross’s wife Judy in 2009, I never could have imagined that Alan would still be in prison in Cuba five years later. I continue to call on the Cuban government to release Alan immediately on humanitarian grounds.

“It has been five very long years for Alan and his family, and the Obama Administration and Congress must remain focused on doing everything we can to secure his release. I stand ready to support the Administration in all efforts to bring Alan home.”
