GOP Wants Changes After Mid-Term Victories

Just one week after this year's midterm elections, many Americans are hoping to see their votes spark some much needed change in Washington.

"It was a historic election," said U.S. Rep. Ted Yoho.

America is now under the control of two Republican majorities.

The November 4th election put the GOP back in control in the US Senate for the first time since 2006, and kept their numbers up in the US House.

A new era for Americans, and Congress, something Representative Ted Yoho says he's been waiting for.

"It's definetley a referendum of, well, against the president's policy and the disfunction of congress. It's something we've been talking about all along," said Yoho.

Republicans picked up 8 Democratic seats this term for a total 53 seat majority --- against 45 Democrats.

That's a composition that voters could change if the majority can't prove to be more effective.

"They've rewarded us wih their faith, and their trust in us. We as the republican party have to show that we've earned that and that we can lead. If we do that, they'll reward us in 2016, if we don't, they won't," said Yoho.

And Democrats are trying to stay positive, and plan to work with the new congressional majority to get things done in Washington.

"I'm aware of the challenges being in the minority but I'm hopeful, you know, it's always darkest before the dawn, so I'm hoping that all of us understands that the public just wants us to do our job," said Rep. Mark DeSaulnier.

And the pressure has already started for the GOP to step up to the plate, as their first congressional meetings and votes start this week.
