In the last five years, Washington has governed from fiscal crisis to fiscal crisis.  Terms like “debt ceiling,” “continuing resolution,” “fiscal cliff,” “sequester,” have become commonplace in our vocabulary.  The Obama Administration takes in a record $3 trillion annually yet our national debt recently topped $17 trillion.

Despite the strong lobbying efforts by President Barack Obama and his administration, one local lawmaker remains skeptical about taking military action in Syria.

In comments made to the Herald on Tuesday, U.S. Rep. Roger Williams, R-Austin, indicated that he was not in support of the president’s call for a military strike against the Syrian government.

We lost 14 innocent Americans that day — 12 military service members, one civilian and an unborn child. Since the attack, the Fort Hood community has received an outpouring of support from across the state of Texas and the nation. But not from the federal government.
