Whitfield Targets Obama’s Green Payoffs for 2015
WASHINGTON, D.C. –U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY-01), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power, announced his intention to examine the Department of Energy’s (DOE) federal loan programs that provide funding for green energy projects. A recent article entitled: “World’s largest solar plant applying for federal grant to pay off federal loan,” written by William La Jeunesse with Fox News, further illuminated an issue Whitfield has discussed in a number of public forums regarding the Obama Administration’s special treatment for his political supporters’ green energy dreams.
“As our nation struggles under the yoke of a nearly $18 trillion federal debt, headlines and actions like this require that we as lawmakers begin a comprehensive review of government in the energy sector,” said Whitfield. “I am hosting a presentation by Congressional Research Service to explain the history, dollar amounts and number of loan and grant programs currently being utilized by the Department of Energy.”
