House Approves Keystone XL Pipeline

Nov 14, 2014
Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Today, the United States House of Representatives voted to approve the Keystone XL Pipeline (H.R. 5682). The measure passed by a vote of 252 to 161 and now goes to the Senate for a vote. Representative Randy Weber (R-Friendswood) made the following statement:

“Once again, House Republicans have acted on bi-partisan legislation that would allow approval of the Keystone XL Pipeline permits without the President’s signature. It is no surprise that the majority of Americans support building the Keystone XL Pipeline. This project would create over 42,000 jobs nationwide and reduce American dependency on foreign oil by 40 percent. We also cannot forget that the Keystone XL Pipeline will terminate right in Port Arthur, which means local jobs and investment into our local economy. This project is a win for the people of Texas-14 and for our country’s energy independence and security.”
