Walz Tours NextEra Energy, Talks Clean Energy & Veterans’ Jobs

Grand Meadow, MN [8/8/13] – Today, Congressman Tim Walz toured the NextEra Energy wind turbine facility in Grand Meadow, MN to tout his clean energy vision and veterans’ jobs.

“We need to take control of our energy future with an all-of-the-above approach to developing new energy sources. Continuing to send our money to countries overseas that hate us just doesn’t make any sense. They will hate us for free,” Walz said. “With entrepreneurship and a can-do American spirit, we can reduce our reliance on foreign oil and create good-paying, all-American energy jobs right here in southern Minnesota.”

Walz also touted NextEra’s commitment to hiring veterans when they get home, “Our goal as a nation is to provide those who serve with the opportunity to achieve the American Dream. We must do all we can to ensure our veterans are finding careers that give them the opportunity to utilize their skills, support their families, and have passion for their work. I am proud of the work that is happening right here in southern Minnesota and companies like NextEra who have committed to make that dream a reality for those who served.”
