Oct 24, 2014
Press Release

Walz recieves the Friend of Farm Bureau award from Minnesota Farm Bureau President Kevin PaapMankato, MN [10/24/14] – Today, Representative Tim Walz received the Friend of Farm Bureau Award from the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF). MFBF President Kevin Paap was on hand to present the award to Walz. Walz serves as the Ranking Member of the U.S. House Agriculture Subcommittee on Conservation, Energy, and Forestry, and was a strong voice of compromise in last year’s Farm Bill negotiations. He was also selected to serve on the bipartisan committee tasked with reaching a final Farm Bill deal to give producers certainty.

“Southern Minnesota farmers are the backbone of our rural economy,” Representative Walz said. “When they do well, local businesses do well. I am incredibly honored to receive this award from the Farm Bureau and the thousands of farmers they represent. As we move forward, I will continue to be a strong advocate and voice for our local farmers in Washington.”

“Representative Walz continues to demonstrate his commitment and support to agriculture,” said MFBF President Kevin Paap. “Through his leadership on the House Committee on Agriculture, Representative Walz has been a strong advocate through passage and implementation of the Farm Bill. In addition, his support for Minnesota’s farmers and landowners in standing up to the Environmental Protection Agency to oppose the proposed bureaucratic overreach on the definition of 'Waters of the United States' is appreciated by Minnesota Farm Bureau. He deserves our thanks for sharing Farm Bureau’s dedication to enhancing the lives of farm families in the 1st Congressional District and across the state.”
