Walz Receives Award for Strong Support of Minnesota Farmers

Mankato, MN [10/24/14] – Today, Representative Tim Walz received the Friend of Farm Bureau Award from the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF). MFBF President Kevin Paap was on hand to present the award to Walz. Walz serves as the Ranking Member of the U.S. House Agriculture Subcommittee on Conservation, Energy, and Forestry, and was a strong voice of compromise in last year’s Farm Bill negotiations. He was also selected to serve on the bipartisan committee tasked with reaching a final Farm Bill deal to give producers certainty.

“Southern Minnesota farmers are the backbone of our rural economy,” Representative Walz said. “When they do well, local businesses do well. I am incredibly honored to receive this award from the Farm Bureau and the thousands of farmers they represent. As we move forward, I will continue to be a strong advocate and voice for our local farmers in Washington.”
