WASHINGTON—Congressman Stockman aims to allow Bureau of Prisons’ correctional officers to store authorized firearms in storage areas on institution grounds through H.R. 1143, the “Federal Correctional Workers Safety Act of 2013.” This legislation was last referred to the Judiciary committee.

Bureau of Prisons law enforcement officers have the right to carry authorized firearms on institution grounds, thanks to the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act, which was later amended in 2010. However, BOP correctional officers, who are targets of murders and assaults, cannot do so.

WASHINGTON— Congressman Stockman is moving to block any potential or future attempt by the United Nations to restrict gun ownership with H.R. 575, the “Second Amendment Protection Act of 2013.”

“Treaties like the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty still pose a threat to our national sovereignty and the Second Amendment. My bill is absolutely necessary in preventing such treaties from being ratified and further limiting our constitutional right to keep and bear arms,” said Congressman Stockman. “The U.N. has no right to infringe upon our nation’s gun rights.”
